We hold events for our alumni, friends, and the general public for people to connect with the important conversations in leadership.

Subject matter experts and prominent New Zealand leaders share their knowledge and engage with the audience, sparking new ideas and innovation as minds from different backgrounds converge and focus their energy on a salient issue or theme.

Sir Paul Reeves Memorial Lecture 2016

7.30pm Wednesday 9 November, AUT University, Auckland

Tame Iti - From The Raindrop, To The River, To The Sea

This year we were honoured to have Tame Iti join us for the annual Lecture. Tame discussed the concept of mana and how this empowers all people to transcend concepts of authority. He also explored the methods employed by Tuhoe where decisions for the iwi start with the whanau and push their way up. The Lecture was held in the Sir Paul Reeves Building at AUT on 9 November.

Thank you to RNZ and AUT for making this event possible.

Below you can watch the video of the night, produced by webfilms. You can also see our pictures from the night, listen to Tame's interview with Kim Hill on RNZ and listen to the Lecture on RNZ.

The Reeves Lectures, which began in 2012, commemorate Sir Paul Reeves, an outstanding leader and visionary and are designed to provide commentary on New Zealand’s progress as a nation. They are a draw card for thinking New Zealanders wanting to engage in shaping a positive future. Leadership New Zealand organized the Lecture in partnership with Auckland University of Technology and Radio New Zealand.

The Sir Paul and Lady Reeves Scholarship Fund was also launched in 2012 in the loving memory of Sir Paul. This fund enables scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to, take part in Leadership NZ’s leadership programmes.

We believe there should be no unreasonable economic barrier for an individual to participate, and so scholarships are an essential part of ensuring the diversity of participants in our programme.

Leadership NZ and our scholarship recipients would greatly appreciate your support.  You can make an on-line donation here or contact us on 09 309 3749.

If it had not been for a scholarship, Olive Brown may not have been able to participate in the Leadership NZ leadership programme. You can read her story here »
